Are You Properly Planning Your Events?

James Davenport - will lead what will surely be a lively discussion about properly planning weddings and the other events that we do each week. This isn''t "when do we cut the cake" or "first dance before or after dinner". It''s much more: Are more and more of your gigs becoming multiple room or inside/outside events?

Do the venues keep shoving you in the corner...or worse yet, keep putting the dance floor in the middle of the room...surrounded by tables??!!

Why do they put the bar in the foyer or even outside on the patio? The smoking area is where??? Your photographer can only stay until when?? Hey DJ...let''s cut the cake before everybody leaves!! (I guess we CAN talk about the cake...LOL!)

Have you even asked the bride and groom if they NEED a head table which goes unused or becomes a play area for the flower girl, ring bearer and the 14 other toddlers at the wedding, gets littered with drinks, empty glasses, items of clothing, discarded flowers, lost cameras, etc?

And what ABOUT the timeline...is it REALLY realistic??.....for a Saturday?...a Friday or Sunday?....or a weekday?? We''ll cover all that and more. This is not DJ 101....this is the difference between a really great celebration and one that could have been!

Networking with Your Colleagues

We all know that networking and word of mouth is the key to success, which in our business often leads to landing higher quality, better paying events vs. the price shoppers. Robert Wilson will be hosting the topic Building referrals, networking & loyalty. Robert will provide tips on we can all get the most out of your ADJA membership & developing friendships as well as DJ backup resources in case an emergency arises.

Dr. Drax & Eric Godfrey will explain how to personalize your weddings by using audio clips with music. Eric & Drax will demonstrate various ways to improve your performance in order to provide your clients and their guests with a more memorable evening. Open discussion for all the members to participate in a lively discussion concerning the above topics.

Ministers Roundtable

Matt Graumann has been a DJ Entertainer for the last 14 years, and has been full time with his company, Party Tunes! for the last 9. He''s served as the PADJ (ADJA Los Angeles Chapter) President from 2000-2002, has co-founded the PCDJA (Ventura, CA) DJ group, and hosted Mark Ferrell''s Worthtour stop in LA for over 200 DJs.

Previous speaking engagements have been presented for the PADJ, SCADJA, and the PCDJA DJ chapters on topics including, "Wedding Ceremony Perfection," "DJ ''Zales''," and "Networking and Getting More Referrals From Catering Managers and Special Event Professionals." Mike Ryan- started his DJ career as a teenager listening and mimicking radio stars like Casey Kasem (American Top 40) and Wolfman Jack. Later after a stint in the NAVY as a ship DJ Mike continued his education in college and became a staff member of the Marconi Radio Award winning KSDS "Jazz 88" radio station at San Diego City College. Upon graduation he got the chance of a lifetime joining KGB radio, the original home of the San Diego Chicken mascot. After nearly two decades in radio, including News writing and editing, he retired to the more lucrative business of Mobile DJing which he continues today as DJ "Mike on the mike"!

Darren Wallace - Planning for your future. Decisions small business owners need to make now to put themsleves in the right position for retirement. Have employees? What options can you offer to them? As an Associate with Nelson Financial Group, Darren focuses the majority of his time working with clients on insurance, investments and financial strategies. He also works to maintain corporate group accounts, and strengthening relationships between clients and insurance carriers. Darren is also a FINRA member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in Arizona for 2005 & 2006, a New York Life TAS Agent of the Year, a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and licensed in series 6 and 63 with mutual funds.
